Record script steps using the script builder

Record a task in your browser and rewrite its narrations.

Steps

  1. You build a content script by doing the task once in your browser while the extension records it. Then you shape the narration your viewers will hear. Screenshot
  2. Add steps opens the script's starting URL in a new browser window, with the script builder in the extension's side panel. Screenshot
  3. Know where the task ends before you start. A short flow with a clear start and end makes the best first content script.
  4. Now do the task the way your users would. Each action you take becomes a step. Screenshot
  5. As you perform the actions, we record the steps and display them on the right panel. Default narrations are automatically generated from each action — you can customize these later to craft your own messaging. Screenshot
  6. Save when you reach the end of the task, so the recorded steps are stored with the content script. Screenshot
  7. The default narrations describe each click. Your viewers already see the click, so a good narration says why the step matters instead.
  8. The email, password, and sign-in steps need only one line between them, so write one summary narration on the first of them. Screenshot
  9. Then turn off narration on the other two steps, so the summary plays over all three. Screenshot
  10. Finish with a closing narration that tells viewers what they've done and what to do next. Screenshot
  11. Save the script again to keep your narration changes. They reach every format the next time you generate. Screenshot
  12. Your script is recorded and its narration is ready. Next, generate it into every format from the Scripts page. Screenshot
