Ottoclip Guide / Getting Started
Create content scripts
The source of every format. Make a sign-in script once and reuse it.
Steps
- A content script is the editable source that every format is generated from. Here you'll create two of them, one that signs in to your product and one that starts where the sign-in ends. Screenshot
- Scripts is where you create and edit your content scripts and record their steps. You generate them later, on this same page.
- The name and description show with the generated content on your hosted site, so write them for your viewers. Screenshot
- The starting URL is where recording and generation begin, and it defaults to your company's website. Cloud generation replays this script on your live site, so the address has to be reachable from the internet. Screenshot
- The group decides where this content script appears on your hosted site, and whether it starts out public or unlisted. Screenshot
- The width and height set the size of the browser window during generation. Every format uses this size, so pick one that shows your product clearly. Screenshot
- The cursor and outline colors start from your company settings. Change them here only when this content script needs its own look. Screenshot
- The voice also starts from your company settings. Change it when this script calls for a different tone, like a clear voice for a how-to guide. Screenshot
- Most products need a sign-in before anything else. Record that sign-in once as its own content script, then use it as the setup for every script that starts signed in.
- This second content script covers the task itself, sharing your screen. Screenshot
- Now that your account has a content script, a Setup script option appears. Pick the sign-in script here. Its steps run first, so this script starts signed in without repeating them. Screenshot
- Both content scripts are created. Next, record the sign-in script's steps in the script builder. Screenshot
